Annual salary range: $55,000 - $68,000
What you’ll be doing:
As a member of CCGA’s Ottawa-based Government Relations team under the direction of the Senior Manager, Government & Industry Relations, the successful candidate will:
- Monitor and report on relevant legislation and policy developments and act as the key interlocutor between the offices of Parliamentarians or government officials and CCGA.
- Research, coordinate and write products to support parliamentary activities and policy positions (e.g., briefing notes, backgrounders, taking notes in meetings.
- Attain and maintain a knowledge base of policy and legislative priorities; supporting CCGA's analysis and participation on policy files/projects.
- Maintain the lobby registry for Directors and staff as approved by the President & CEO.
- Manage office administration, such as correspondence, maintenance of office equipment, supplies and bills and provide ongoing support to the Senior Manager and GR team, as required.
Your experience:
- Completion of a university degree in political science, social sciences or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience. Experience in politics, parliamentary process, public administration, or trade associations and knowledge of the Canadian government and regulatory structure.
- Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills; French language skills are highly desirable.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and coordinate public events, resolve issues as they arise, and manage competing priorities independently.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and public speaking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, with excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to register as a federal lobbyist with the Commissioner of Lobbying for Canada.
